Bank Sync Security & Data Privacy
By ZohaibConnecting a bank account to any app understandably raises the question of what it can see and do. Here's exactly how Fyscal's bank sync works under the hood, in plain terms.
How the connection works
Fyscal connects through Plaid's secure, bank-grade login flow. When you log in to your bank inside that popup, Fyscal never sees or stores your actual username or password, only a secure access token that lets it ask Plaid for your data going forward.
Read-only access
The connection is read-only. Fyscal can view your balances and transaction history, but it cannot move money, make payments, or change anything at your bank. There's no capability for that built into the connection at all.
What changes on a synced transaction
Transactions that come in through bank sync are marked with a small "Plaid" source badge so you can always tell where they came from. Their date and amount are locked from manual editing, since the bank is treated as the authoritative source for those two fields, but you can still categorize them, add notes, tags, and attachments freely.
Tip: You'll also see your bank's real logo next to its accounts throughout Fyscal, in account lists, transaction rows, and the account switcher, pulled in automatically once the connection is made.
