    Creating a Goal

    ZohaibBy Zohaib

Setting up a new goal takes less than a minute, but a little thought about which account you link it to will save you confusion later.

    What you need to set

    • Name: whatever you'll recognize it by, "Emergency Fund," "Trip to Japan," "New Car."
    • Target amount: how much you're aiming to reach, in whichever currency makes sense for it.
    • Due date: the month you're aiming to hit it by.
    • Linked account: the account whose balance will drive this goal's progress.

    Adding it

    1. Click Add Goal on the Goals page, or use Quick Add in the sidebar.
    2. Fill in the name, target amount, due date, and which account it's linked to.
    3. Save. The goal appears on your Goals page immediately, with its progress calculated from whatever that account's balance already is.

    Choosing the right account

Since a goal's progress is entirely driven by its linked account, pick one that actually reflects that goal, and nothing else. A dedicated savings account works cleanly for something like an emergency fund. For a bigger, non-cash goal like a house down payment, you might link it to a Real Estate or Receivable account instead, depending on how you're tracking that money.

    Setting a due date

Due dates are set at the month level, for example "Dec 2027", and Fyscal treats that as the last day of that month when calculating how many months you have left and what pace you need to keep.

Tip: Don't worry about getting the target amount perfectly right on day one. Goals are meant to be adjusted, edit it anytime your plans or numbers change.
