    Budget vs. Actual Color Coding

    ZohaibBy Zohaib

Every cell in the budget table is shaded by how close your actual spending or income came to what you budgeted, so you can scan the whole grid and spot problem categories without reading a single number.

    The color scale

    • 60% or under: comfortably within budget, shown in the deepest green.
    • 61 to 85%: still on track, a lighter green.
    • 86 to 100%: cutting it close, shown in amber.
    • 101 to 120%: over budget, shown in orange.
    • Over 120%: well over budget, shown in the strongest red.
    • No budget set: shown in neutral gray rather than any color, since there's nothing to compare against yet.

    The "Over" label

If a category has real spending but no budget set for that month, its cell shows the word "Over" instead of a percentage, colored the same as the most severe red band, since spending with no budget is treated as the worst case for visibility.

Tip: Hover any cell to see the exact actual amount, the budgeted amount, and the precise percentage behind the color, the shading is a quick scan tool, not the full picture.
