Categorizing Transactions & Managing Merchants
By ZohaibGetting transactions into the right category is what makes your budgets and reports trustworthy, since every number they show is really just a sum of categorized transactions.
Categorizing inline
Click a transaction's category cell to search and pick from your category list, or add a new one on the spot if nothing quite fits. You don't need to leave the Transactions page to do either.
Managing merchants
Rename a merchant directly from a transaction row, useful when your bank feed shows a cryptic merchant code instead of a readable name. Fyscal remembers merchant names you've used before, so future entries for the same merchant autocomplete.
Rules
Create a rule for a merchant once from Manage Rules, and every future transaction from that merchant is categorized automatically the moment it comes in, no manual review needed. Rows categorized this way show a small Rule badge, so you can always tell which ones were automatic.
Source indicators
Each transaction row shows a small icon indicating where it came from, a Plaid sync, a bank statement import, a bulk CSV upload, a manual entry, or a system-generated leg created automatically as the other half of a transfer.
Tip: Bulk-select transactions to apply a category or rename a merchant across all of them at once, rather than repeating the same action row by row.
