    Adding, Editing & Splitting Transactions

    ZohaibBy Zohaib

Beyond what syncs in automatically, you can add, edit, or split any transaction by hand, which matters for anything cash-based or anything your bank connection missed.

    Transaction types

Fyscal supports more than just simple income and expenses:

    • Received / Sent: everyday income and spending.
    • Transfer: money moving between two of your own accounts.
    • Investment: buying or selling stocks, crypto, precious metals, or real estate.
    • Debt Payment / Debt Received: paying down or receiving payment on a loan.
    • Money Lent / Money Recovered: tracking money you've lent out and later got back.
    • CC Payment: paying off a credit card balance.
    • Property Payment: payments tied to a Real Estate account.

    Editing a transaction

Click any row to open it and change the date, amount, account, category, notes, tags, or attachments. If a transaction came from a bank sync, some fields like the date and amount may be locked, since the bank is treated as the source of truth for those.

    Splitting a transaction

If one transaction covers more than one category, like a shopping trip that's part groceries and part household, split it into multiple lines, each with its own category and share of the total. The split lines always need to add up to the original transaction amount.

    Attachments, tags & notes

You can attach a receipt or supporting file to a transaction, add tags for cross-cutting labels that don't fit neatly into a category, and leave a note for context. Rows with attachments or tags show a small count so you can spot them in the list.

Tip: Duplicate a transaction from the Categorized tab if you need to log a near-identical entry quickly, instead of filling out the form from scratch.
